I know, I know.. I haven’t really been posting anything the last week time, but final week is closing in, and there is still lots to do!
None the less things are starting to take shape:
the images of the girl (Winnie) reading the book have also got a make-over / sneak peek / :

It took longer that I expected. Not post-production in itself, but after two days of intense collaboration, Photoshop was wicked – the bad way. It saved images suddenly in the wrong file types, which of course I only discovered after a full day’s work. Yeeha! Some of the images took obviously longer than others, but I am overall satisfied.
A little sneak peak:

So .. BCU print service has not exactly what I had expected.
Firstly: the prices where not the same.
Secondly: the quality was not what I had expected from a college, where BIAD is a part of. One would think with a creative corner hidden in side city centre, that quality for printing would be requested. Apparently not so much.
Verdict: I had hoped that they would be the saviour of my project, but seems it is going to be my own twisted thinking, which has to stand in.
– Aston Uni has a print service as well, even though its practically going to the competitor. I talked with them today, and it seems like I am able to at least getting my sketches/ink splats bound there. Using one or two creative solutions.
– BCU print service is however not forgotten, and I am willing to try them out in the end. I am going again next week or the week after, and ask again with some visuals. I am thinking about getting my presented research printed there, as I will not be able to get it back if I would send it off.

Just had a talk with my tutor, and got to know that BCU know has a new printer in store. This printer makes perfect bound available, which is pretty nice. The web page of BCU’s print service looks promising, so I am going tomorrow to have a look! Exciting! Exciting!

All my sketches and ink papers are all in A3. This makes it a tiny bit difficult to get them gathered together. I don’t want to simply put them in a folder and let it be it. Finding a book binder in Birmingham, who does this size, might not be impossible, but I have had no luck – and what’s the fun in that? So I went online to see if anybody had any good suggestions on ‘how to bind your own book’, and this blog-post sounded sound and good: http://www.persistenceunlimited.com/2006/03/fun-and-easy-how-to-guide-to-binding-your-own-paperback-books-at-homefast/
It is a post from a guy, who love to read e-books, but hates to read them on the screen. So he prints the book out and gather the papers into a book. So I took a look on what he uses, and a few clicks on the internet I ordered the ‘Gorilla Glue’ – the Miracle worker!!
It landed Saturday in the mail! As a good do-it-yourself person I wanted to tired it out before trying it on the real thing. So yesterday I took the ‘fabric-leather’ that I want my sketches to be bound in, some random papers and some papers from the fairytale book, and tried the glue. It dried through the night / even though it only needs 2-3 hours/ and the result is head blowing! It not only dries and become hard, but the glue has also expanded so it fills the air between the papers and bind them together.

And so it came, the day of the photo shoot. A model was found, but it didnt happen. So in times of need, its good that friends are there to count on. Let me present: Winnie Nora Eckardt!!
Great lighting and brilliant pictures were done by Heather Tait: http://www.heathertait.biz
A little pre-show / behind the camera picture:

Hans Christian Andersen is on a short visit at Hampstead Theatre. A beautiful memory piece has been put together in a play about the cherished writer Hans Christian Andersen, where he is visiting Dickens at his home at Gad’s Hills place in the Kent marshes.
If time would allow, I would most certain go and have a look! It is on until the 8th of May.
