I am a Dane who moved to Birmingham in 2009 for the BA (Hons) Fashion Design course at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD). In Denmark I had mastered a Fashion Design Technologist diploma, which enabled me not only to work in the industry of Fashion clothing, but also gave me a chance to enter directly onto the 3year of the course in Birmingham.
This blog will show you the journey of my Final Major Project, which is the final part for my degree at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design.
“Captivation” is a story:
It’s about the paradox that while we read a book and become absorbed in its story, the book also engulfs us. It becomes part of us. We have no impact on the book’s story, however, the change but us.
I will use illustrations, styling and a bit graphic sentences to illustrate the story. The story will show a girl who reads a book. She gets ‘swallowed up’ by the book’s stories, which is illustrated the book’s ink going up along her body. There will ultimately be to see a ‘personality change, when the paradox story ends. In the beginning the girl looks ‘ innocent ‘ – after being devoured by the book, we see the girl with a more adult look in her eyes.
